Wold Ecology

Corporate Social Responsibity

CSR is the integration of business operations and values, whereby the interests of all stakeholders including the community and the environment are reflected in the company's policies and actions.  So here are just a few examples of how Wold Ecology and our division Yorkshire Coast Nature keep CSR high on our agenda through the work we do

Community

Local Community Support: Financial support for the Wolds Barn Owl Study Group (£250 towards exhibition and nest box costs), Flamborough Bird Observatory (£2000 towards habitat creation on North Cliff Marsh Local Wildlife Site), Financial Support for Bempton RSPB Reserve ( £300 grant to enable a moth trapping station to be set up on the reserve). Chris Toohie is a Trustee of Driffield's Millennium Green and uring 2012, Wold Ecology donated £500 towards grassland management and ecological enhancements of the urban reserve. Wold Ecology are team sponsors of Blackburn Leisure Football Club since 2010.

Environment

National Charity Support: RSPB Corporate Membership promotion. A national business agreement between Wold Ecology and RSPB. New in 2013!

Support for Ecological Research: Staff time dedicated to conducting seabird monitoring for the RSPB on Flamborough Headland Special Protection Area (SPA). 2013 will be the fourth year Wold Ecology has conducted weekly kittiwake nest monitoring which takes place between May and July

Partnership Work within the Business Sector: Richard Baines is a non paid Director of Green Future Building. GFB are an independent not for profit social enterprise founded in 2012, to help disadvantaged young people access alternative education facilities and employment in the sustainable construction industry

Wold Ecology and YCN have a long standing partnership with Thornwick and Sea Farm Holiday Centre based on the Yorkshire Coast. Habitat creation, advice, planning and implementation are co-ordinated by Richard Baines in partnership with local voluntary groups. In 2012/13 we are creating new wetland habitats on THSFHC land by installing a GFB built sand martin colony and completing our bird hide constructed in 2013.
